"DA DA & HI"

Nicholas said his first word the day after Thanksgiving and it was "Hi". It was plain as day and since then he has said it more!!!! On December 1st he said "Da Da"!!! This has been so much fun for us and to watch the boys grow and explore is just simply amazing!!! Ken has been very busy with work and has been working alot of late hours to get him and his community through their state inspection.... ughhhh! Hate it for him! Thanksgiving was a blessing and we a FULL house! 8 Adults and 2 babies...not sure if i will try to host that many again. It was such a blast and I would not trade a memory for the world but trying to host and be mommy and chef and maid is really hard. Ken's brother Joel and fiance Kristin will be having their engagement party this Friday and we are sad that we will nto be able to make it but we send our warmest wishes and congrats:)
I have a big to do list today and not enough time so please keep us in your prayers, for Ken and Nathaniel. Ken with his work and Nathaniel is having an ultrasound done at the hospital tomorrow since it has grown too much in such a short span of time.
Love to all and happy holidays!!!

Is it really November?

Well, a ton of things have been going on in our daily lives! Uncle Joel finally proposed to Kristin and she is finally in the family for good, not that she wasn't before but now its official! We are so excited for them both! The boys had their first Halloween, next year will be soo much fun. I had pumpkin costumes for them to wear but it was too darn hot out. So we joined some family friends for a nice dinner in Charleston who were visiting from Asheville. Molly Gardener is engaged to Kennan, which we are so excited for tthe two of them as well. Mom and Dad went to a grown up Halloween party as Grammy DeFoor wathced and put the boys to bed. My mom came down to visit with her boyfriend Kenny, so we had a house full for a while which was great. Missy (Kens mom) is still in town and will be here until the 21st of November! My mom and Kenny will be coming back through from their Florida trip to spend Thanksgiving with is along with Auntie Alesha, Kara & Alton from Vero Beach, FL. We will surely have a great time. Oh I must step away for a second as the feeding frenzy is beginning!

I will have to get back to this at another time, they are lil' grumpsters today :( Love to all!!!

ROLL OVER!!!!!

SAT. OCTOBER 3RD MARKED THE DAY NICHOLAS ROLLED OVER. WE WERE SITTING AND WATCHING BOTH BOYS SATURDAY MORNING WHEN NICHOLAS WAS ON HIS TUMMY AND ROLLED OVER IN FRONT OF KEN AND I. WE WERE SO EXCITED!!!! HE IS GETTING TO BE SUCH A BIG BOY :)

NATHANIEL IS SLOWLY BUT STEADILY STILL TRYIG TO LIFT HIS HEAD DURING TUMMY TIME. HE REALLY, REALLY DISLIKES TUMMY TIME AND INSTEAD OF TRYING TO PICK UP HIS HEAD HE JUST LIES THERE INSTEAD! AS YOU ALL CAN SEE HE HAS A REALLY GOOD SIZE HEAD TO BEGIN WITH SO I CAN IMAGINE IT MIGHT BE HARDER TO PICK UP VERSES THE SIZE OF NICK'S.

LET'S SEE UNCLE CATLOW CAME TO VISIT FROM TUSCON, ARIZONA 2 WEEKS AGO. AUNT JUDY, STEPHANIE, MASON, CLAY, JAMIE, CHAPPIE, SHANNON AND MIA WERE HERE VISITING LAST WEEKEND. NICHOLAS GOT HIS "FEET WET" WITH THE COOL OCEAN WATER FOR THE FIRST TIME. NATHANIEL WAS BEING LAZY UNDER THE SHADED TENT NAPPING SO HE MISSED OUT ON GETTING HIS FEET WET. NICHOLAS WAS NOT REALLY SURE WHAT TO THINK, HE LOOKED DOWN IN AMAZEMENT STUDYING THE OCEAN WATER. IT WAS SUCH A BLAST TO SEE THE FAM AGAIN. THEN LATER ON THAT EVENING WE WENT TO DINNER AT BLOSSOM DOWNTOWN TO MEET 2 OF KEN'S GOOD FRIENDS FROM HIGH SCHOOL, MONICA AND HER HUSBAND KARL AND WHITLEY AND HER HUSBAND "JUAN". IT WAS SUCH A GREAT TIME AND THE BOYS SLEPT REALLY WELL FROM AN EXHAUSTING DAY. SUNDAY WE WENT OUT TO WATCH THE TITANS LOOSE :( THEN ON TO DANIEL ISLAND TO MEET A COUPLE OF FRIENDS FOR DINNER. IT WAS A FUN BUT FILLED WEEKEND.

THIS WEEKEND WE ARE WELCOMING KEN'S BROTHER JOEL AND HIS GIRLFRIEND KRISTIN TO CHARLESTON ALONG WITH DAD DEFOOR AND JUDY. THE BOYS ARE SO EXCITED TO SEE EVERYONE AND SO ARE WE! WE WILL FILL YOU ALL IN ON OUR EVENTS AS THE WEEKEND GOES BY! HERE ARE A COUPLE OF PICS...ENJOY!

4 1/2 months old...

Hello and Happy October!!! The boys had their 4 month check up yesterday, we had to re-schedule our last appointment due to mom being sick :(

Nathaniel has finally surpassed Nicholas in weight, although not by much but Ken and I had a feeling it would happen. Nicholas weighed 13.10 lbs and 23 inches and Nathaniel weighed 13.13 lbs and 22 3/4 inches. My preemie boys finally made it on the growth chart and they are in the 25th percentile! YAY! They are not even on the growth chart for their length though, they actually are <>

Nicholas and Nathaniel both caught their first cold while we were in Virginia for my cousin Becky's wedding. First Nicholas had it which then to Nathaniel. It was really sad and very hard to soothe 2 crying babies. Thank goodness for Auntie Alesha and my mom :) It was a good trip although I will not be taking very many trips alone. It is alot of work and I feel like a single parent. Ken was not able to take off work so he unfortunaetly stayed behind.

I will update more later, the boys have been kind of fussy today, maybe from their shots and they still are not feeling 100 %. Love to all !!!!!

Almost 4 months old!!!

Just a little update from the DeFoor residence.....the boys are steadily growing and cooing and smiling and all that good stuff. I forgot to give an update on the last dr. appt. visit which was almost 1 month ago. Nicholas weighed 12 lbs and Nathaniel weighed 11.13 lbs. Mom was in complete shock and could not believe that her little premies were just growing as they should. It was such a bitter sweet moment. I had to call Dad immediately from the Dr.'s office to inform him of the good news. They have another 4 month check up on Sept. 14th so I will keep you all informed of our visit.

The boys are looking at everything with curiosity, even at their own reflection. They will turn their heads to find where our voices are coming from and can recognize their mom and daddy, which is so much fun!
Above you see a picture of the boys sitting in their bumbo seats for the first time and as you can see Bella has to be with the boys 24/7!!!

Well it is nap time and then story/sing time. So blessings to all :)

august 24th...........giggles...........................

So today marks the day when both boys learned how to giggle. It happened this morning as I was changing Nathaniels diaper and I started tickling him and he let out a giggle. I could not believe it!!!! It is not the full fledge laughter but I have a feeling that is right around the corner. My mom was able to get Nicholas giggling although I have not personally witnessed him yet. The boys and I took a little road trip up to Virginia for my cousins bridal shower that I was helping out with. The travels were not as delightful as I thought it would have been. So as we head back to Raleigh, NC tommorow I am praying and keeping my fingers crossed that we will have safe and QUIET travels back to Charleston. The boys were able to meet all kinds of friends and family this weekend and as of today met their 4th cousins, which was pretty cool. They also met their Auntie Tina today whom I have known since middle school. I will be posting pictures once I safely arrive home. Love and blessings to all.

updates

Just an update in our world......the boys are continuing to grow each and every day! They are now really smiling and cooing. I really think that Nathaniel will surpass Nicholas in growth. Ken and I call Nathaniel our chunky monkey as he is really starting to beef up. Nicholas is changing more every day and has changed so much in looks from the time he was born. Nicholas has a hemangioma on his forehead for those of you who were wondering. This is very common in infants and will disappear completely hopefully by the time he is one year of age. That is what his pediatrician has stated but other websites state that it could take up to five years to be completely gone so we shall see!!
It is so neat to talk to the boys and have them wanting to respond to you! They have recently started liking "bath time" but they both still do not like getting undressed or dressed. This really upsets them but little do they realize that this is something we must do daily and sometimes more than daily :) They recently have been kicking their legs alot and moving alot during feedings which makes it a little difficult on mom. They have an appointment on Monday so we will definitely keep you updated as to their weight and growth!
We took our first road trip to Asheville while Miss and Dave were here. The four hour road trip took six hours, due to feeding, changing, burping and of course the adult stops! Not too bad for the first road trip that was named "Nick and Nate's Big Adventure". It was Grandpa Chapman's 92nd birthday! It was so much fun to be with all the family. We were able to get a cousin shot of Clay, Mason, Nicholas, Nathaniel, and Mia with Grandpa Chap. It was a heck of a good time!
Well, a fellow twin mom, Kerry was so nice and brought dinner over so I must go take it out of the oven. Enjoy the pictures. These are older pictures but will post newer ones when I get a moment.
Love to all,
Nichole

Delivery, Home and 9 1/2 weeks later.....

Hello and I am soooo sorry it has taken me a while to post. Mommy world of twins has taken on a new meaning for me!!!

Nicholas Evans DeFoor was born on May 16, 2009 at 7:34 am weighing 5.2 lbs and 17 inches long.

Nathaniel Kearns DeFoor was born on May 16, 2009 at 7;35 am weighing in at 4.6 lbs and 16 1/2 inches long.
We are approching 10 weeks old in age this weekend. They are pretty good babies with a little colic. Nathaniel seems to be more colicy than Nicholas and just needs more attention. They are really amazing and Ken and I are in coomplete awe, although we will be glad to get sleep sometime in the future :) They have had their first ER visit which turned out to be nothing. They have already learned what it is like to fine dine with their mom and dad. They are starting to coo and make noises and reach out for toys and also their little heads are soooo strong! Their latest weight was Nicholas= 9.4 lbs and Nathaniel= 9 lbs. I can't believe my little premie babies are 9 lbs already!!! Time really does fly by. I have to keep this short as someone is getting fussy so I will keep you posted and I will keep posting pictures!
Love to all,
Nichole, Ken, Nicholas, Nathaniel and Bella
